Nice Class

I worried that I couldn’t get accustomed to this camp. However, after I took this class, I was very satisfied. Actually, it was a little burden for me because I don’t study while I don’t have any reason. The most thing that I corrected is writing. When I was a second grade in high school, I learned grammar about writing. But it was not that efficient. On the contrary, I learned much about writing from how to make a title to how to make a phrase in this class. Everything I learned came into my head. It was good.

And friends of our class were also good! I am really happy to meet friends like you. Of course teacher Erika is great! I had a nice experience during this camp, and I feel sad. I’ll miss you guys, and let’s get along with well after we enter the school!

Changing

I’ve never thought that what I want to make. Because I don’t complain present food, I don’t recognize inconvenience. Pomegranate has many small kernels. Sometimes, it is so small that it’s hard to eat. So I think it’ll be good if the seeds are bigger. And I like sweet fruits. If they are combined, it can taste good! Carrots and onions will be a good balance. When we cook something, they are usually used together. Combined carrot and onion, canion will be a practical and economical product. If we need things, we can buy only one, canion.

I wonder, too. Why people change animals to certain traits. For their profits, it could be. But others who don’t need to make animals like that disagree. So I think it’s wrong. They should stop changing animals unnaturally.

A Frightening Incident

I thought the hurricane will be like most afraid, but after I experienced an earthquake, it is the most afraid disaster for me. When I was a middle school student, I felt an earthquake. I was watching a TV drama sit on the floor. Suddenly the floor was shaking! I thought it was because of the refrigerator’s vibration, but it wasn’t possible. Of course, I learned how to cope with this situation, but I couldn’t think anything and was panic. The only thing that came up on my head was ‘I’m gonna die.’ I felt like all the apartments collapse down soon. Although the shaking was just for a few seconds, I was really frightened during that short time. I heard that later, there were lots of people who couldn’t feel this earthquake.

I don’t remember the latest disaster. I know one little earthquake occurred, but it didn’t caused damage. I think the earthquake that I experienced was the most memorable.

I hate the humid weather. It makes me annoyed. The humid weather formed well during summer. So I like cold weather rather than hot weather. People have many things to protect themselves when it’s hot. And there are also many air conditionals in the schools, offices, and buildings and so on. The function that can remove wet is equipped in an air conditional. So people can live in dry place when it’s hot. I think the spring and the autumn are the best season. They are not hot or freezing. And they have best weather!

The Fabulous Life

     I imagined how will be like if I have a lot of money. First, as I like cooking especially baking breads and cookies, I will buy some tools and machines that will be needed for baking. Second, the other thing I want to enjoy is traveling. For example, I want to travel Japan, Australia, and some countries of Europe. I think it will be definitely fantastic. Third, I have my house decorated like a palace that is on TV drama. It must be great to show my house to others. Then maybe I can have a personal jet. If I have one, I can go everywhere in a short time and go good places to eat a great dinner. Also I have a lot of money, I will buy a compound resort. For instance, I came to own a skiing ground, a golf ground, a hotel, a casino, and a park etc. Finally, the most thing that I sometimes imagine is throwing money away on the street. If I have too enough money to do like this, I feel satisfied.

Crafts Activities

I like making crafts. Because of this reason, I took many crafts CA (Club Activity) when I was a middle school student. Let me introduce the clubs that I joined. I joined Plastic Model Club in the first year. (Plamodel that we usually use is Japanese.) I made a ship and an airplane in that club. My friend and I didn’t know the tips how to make easily. We always smear bonds and enamel on our hands. It was a little bit irritating, but we made plastic model hardly. Although we didn’t make them nice, they looked a little good. There was an exhibition every year to exhibit works of art. My friend and I got a best award of plastic model!  

I took a Paper Craft (Hanji Craft) in the next year. It was new and interesting. I learned how to apply glue and something liquid. I made a plate, a cell phone accessory with mirror, a fan, a chest, and a doll. They were prepared well and I had to only follow the instructor. So it was easy. They are different from usual stuffs. They are more traditional and beautiful and good to display. I also got a prize of Paper Craft.

I joined Making Natural Soap Club when I was third grade. It was good because I can know how to make soap. Natural soap is beneficial to who has bad skin type. It also made of natural things, and I can put there that I want. I made many types. There were molds that have many shapes. I could put several colors and scents. Making soap was so fun that I had much beautiful soap.
I had learned good things that I could enjoy. The pictures are similar that I made.

Tools to Be Loved

   There are several things that I am always talked by my mom. I scolded by mom because of my habit. I don’t make my bed in every morning. So I want an invention that can make my bed.

   And I know that every people falls hairs on the floor after they wash hair. However, my mom and I do quarrel because of this. Of course, I know I have to pick up my fallen hairs. I think it is annoying. For this reason, I want also a cleaner that can clean my hairs.

   If I have a bed maker and a hair cleaner, it will be very beneficial. I don’t need to waste my time to make a bed or pick up my hairs. I have no idea how the inventions look like, but they will be not that expensive. I think they can be useful for the people who are busy or want a more convenient life. Also, they can be worldwide tools that everyone loves.

   Don’t you think like that?

Being New Person

In terms of Korean culture, I don’t understand girls can be adults at 15. When I was 15, I had no concept and enjoyed just fun. However, I think it can be right in western culture. They are mature than us and like to be looked older. So it’s okay teenagers who are 15 can be adults.

   By having a quinceanera, I think a girl can be more responsible and dependent. It is a good culture. Also, they can have a big party! I think that’ll be the happiest thing. In Korea, both of boys and girls are adults when they are 20(in western age 19). There is no big event like quinceanera in Korea. But there is the Adult Age Day (I don’t know the exact name.) It is on the Monday of third week of May. So it’s on May 16 in this year. This day, people who are 20, I think especially girls, get rose, perfume, kiss, and something like presents.

   I know that we don’t need to follow it. I don’t know yet because I can’t experience the day. It may be hard to live like US adults. 

   Probably I am accustomed with Korean culture, I can’t imagine live without money. I might be able to earn myself when I am older than now. Although we don’t have any big event like quinceanera, I think it’ll be good if there is a big event on my birthday.

An Unexpected Present

I have only one impressive birthday. When I was 16, I couldn’t get any presents and cake from my family. That is usual in my family, so I was okay.

My birthday is in April. On one day of May of that year, my friend told me that let’s meet on May 24. It was the Buddha’s Birthday. I didn’t need to go school. I just thought that we might meet together, eat pizza, and watch a movie. However, my friend thought it from long time ago. I didn’t know that. She prepared many things that I couldn’t know.

We met at Pizza Ettang and started to eat pizza. There were somethings she brought. I didn’t wonder about it. During talking, she suddenly gave me the presents, a letter, and a cake! I really love cakes! And the presents were a book and a lip gloss. The letter she wrote was so big and long that I’ve never seen. I was very surprised and moved. I was almost crying.

She prepared these all things and planned thoroughly. Although it was not my birthday, I was very happy that I had such a best friend.

Festive Day

I'll tell you the Christmas day. On that day, we write letters to family or friends. There are many decorated trees on the street, in front of buildings, or home. We gathered into family or friends. In case of couples, they meet each other. You can see a lot of couples when you go out. So people who are solo can feel lonely and angry.

We also enjoy it on eve. We enjoy Christmas at home or a restaurant and couples do street date or meet at a restaurant and a skate rink. We usually have a cake. This culture is occurred recently. So many bakeries sell a lot of cakes. You can see many boxes in front of bakeries and people who hold cake boxes. In Korea, we just enjoy this day. So we don’t eat special food, but we eat pizza, chicken, and so on.

In case of children, parents give them presents. If not children, people can give presents or letters to others. In church, they celebrate that day and perform something that they prepared.

There is no stated rule on Christmas. So people do not same activities every time. It is just a free time for us. I also enjoy it because it’s very festive on this day. And I don’t know why I’m just happy.

Unforgettable Memories of the Last Year

I went K high school and will graduate next month. As I told you, my school is located in right next to my apartment. Now, it is under construction. In my school,  students are separated boys' class and girls' class. But exceptionally, some students can be put in a coeducation class because of lack of students or choice of a subject.

It was the last year when I was a high school senior, I was put in a coeducation class. You know, third grade students are sensitive or excited. The friends of my class were so friendly and outgoing. There was a lot of happens in my class. My life as a candidate of Korean SAT is like this. I had to go school at 7:30 am. (I have to get up same time if I can go university now. What's the difference?) If all the classes are finished, the remaining friends who are going to eat supper at school and I gathered and played something exciting. We also gossiped or told something secret when only girls. It was very fun because we were the students who had to study. Break time was really really funny.

After we eat meal, my friends and I went English institute or self-study room. When I went to institute, I always went with a friend of mine. She and I told and counseled about many secrets. Rest days that I didn't go institute, I went self study room. I'd like to upload picture but I can't find it. My school has a self study room next to a library. Students can study volunteerly, not a duty. Many happenings occurred in there.

Although I didn't study much, there are remained many memories.

A Food That Captivating Foreigners

   Actually, I like almost every food except oysters and something bitter. So it is difficult for me to choose one thing I like. I'll introduce about kimchi fried rice.

   If you want to make it, follow this order. I can make it very well. First, you should prepare kimchi, rice, onions, tuna or ham, carrot, and pimento basically. You add or exclude others according to your preference. All the ingredients should be chopped. Put oil on a pan and put the ingredients except rice. If it is cooked well, you put rice. And mix them. That's all! But if you add a fried egg on it , it'll be better!

   I like to eat it my home. Sometimes it is more delicious when I eat restaurants. I usually eat it with my family but in case of outside, I eat it with my friends. I don't eat it regularly. I just eat kimchi fried rice when there is nothing to eat at my home. It's not that expensive. We can buy and eat lower than 3000 won at a restaurant and lower than 1500 won in case of instant foods! I recommend it to foreigner. I saw a TV program that many foreigners come out. They said they like kimchi. So I think some foreigners like kimchi fried rice, too. It's too delicious to hate it!

The Very Taste I Wondered

 

It was December 11, 2011. I had an appointment on that day to meet my institute teacher and friends. My institute teacher made an appointment for celebrating the end of Korean SAT. So 7 students(including me) were gathered at Hong-dae.

We all anticipated delicious food. Because my teacher has a big barrel, we knew that he would buy expensive food for us. That was right. He took us to Japanese food restaurant. It was dark and mysterious restaurant. My teacher ordered many things such as okonomiyaki, wagyu, fried pen shell scallop with bacon, fish noodle, and salmon salad etc. I was very happy because the okonomiyaki was the food that I was really looking forward to! Okonomiyaki is frizzled food that is dough with meat and vegetables etc. It is similar with Korean pancake called 'jeon'. The taste of okonomiyaki was fantastic. I can't forget that taste. Wagyu was also delicious. It is slightly grilled outside of black cows' meat. We can eat it with uncooked sliced onion and leek. I like it very much.

After we had a fantastic dinner, we drank tea. It was the day I ate Japanese food recently. I'd like to go there again.

Last Night's Exhausting Camp

    I felt bored before I took this class. Last week, I became a little busy because there were assignments that I had to do. I thought I'll be free on weekend. However, I had to do my assignments: writing, presentation, and writing the letter(asking for a job). So I wrote my assignments on Saturday all day long. Sure, I watched TV a lot but I can't finish something quickly, too.
   On Sunday, I had a plan. I go church. There was a Youth Camp for 2 nights and 3 days from yesterday. I wanted to take part in this camp but I couldn't because of attending the university. So I could participate only one day. Actually, it was my first time to go to church camp. There were a lot of things I didn't know. Praising, praying, and singing hymns etc. were very long and new things to me. I was a little surprised but it was fun. I could get acquainted with many peoples. At the last time, the MC asked for all of us to pick one person each group and tell how was the camp in front of everyone! I was a member of group 1. Other members instigated me, so I walked to front and told my impressions.
   After yesterday's schedule ended, I came back to home. It was 1:30 am when I came back. And I prepared some presentation, I had sleep at 3 am. I'm very exhausted but I had a great experience that I can't go through anywhere.

An Interesting Survival Reality Show

  Let me talk about my third class. Because there's nobody who take 'Employment Skills' in our class except me. Actually, I didn't have enough information when I had to choose a class. And I saw  'Employment Skills,' and thought 'What's this? Employment? Is this a study for works?' So I chose this class by curiosity.

  The first day when I came to know about this class, I was very surprised. Because it is usually for graduating seniors, so I thought this may not be beneficial to me. At the first class, I noticed there's many seniors and I was embarrassed. Sure, I regretted my choice.

  But day after day I take part in this class, I think it is fun and interesting. 'Employment Skills' is 'Job Seeking Skills.' I have not learned such a thing. Although the number of members in this class is small, the teacher, Michael Chretien is funny and good. I was a little bored when I couldn't catch his words, but he shows us the Simpsons and a reality TV show.

  The TV show 'The Apprentice' is really really interesting that I'd like to recommend you guys to watch! The contents of 'The Apprentice' is like this. A rich man, Donald Trump recruited and selected 16 people, and they are separated two groups. Each group as a corporation has to accomplish the mission they've got. One group must win, they get an enormous prize. Otherwise, the other group must lose, and they are called to a council room. One member of the group who did poorest job is fired. Isn't it merciless?

  I watched episode 1,2 up to now. Wow, it was really interesting. Then you guys who are interested in the show, why don't you search about this? Have a nice weekend!

Type O and the Hidden Inside

   I didn't believe myths so far because I don't like that. But it's true that it is sometimes very interesting.

  My blood type is O. I heard a lot that the type O is good than other types, active, has a good personality……. So I searched explanations of my type, I found quite interesting myths. The women whose types are O, they are very careful when they talk a word. Sometimes, I do. Although she is hard to live, she says nothing because others may worry her. I think this is accord with me. I can't tell worries well so I sometimes feel gloomy.

They also get stress when the works don't go well. Right. I really get stress like this. They have keen eyes, but they see personalities in case their favorite people. Absolutely right. I attach much importance to personalities.

  The blood type I want the person I date to have is B. Because I heard that people who type B is so nice and cool. Also, they are very funny and mood makers. I like these characteristics.

  I want my teacher to have type O. Because he might have a good personality and be humorous. Sure, the aspect of logical is needed, but students like me prefer amusing teachers.

  I think there are matched partially about myths. And these are so interesting if they're same with me. 

Face Shape of Me and Them

My face shape is  a little oval. But also I have narrow forehead and a wide jaw. So I'll write about this type.
In the class, I was surprised because one of the personality matches with me. 'A man with this kind of face will not be close to his children.' Although I'm not a man and I don't have any children, I don't like children. It's true. But the rest of the things don't match with me.

And my best friend. Her face shape is square. In the book, they are good at making dicisions and keeping to them. I don't know about that. They are generous and honest? Well...  I don't know about this, too. They put their friends first in everything. Right! She really thinks her friends. So I like her, too. She always prepare everything thoroughly. And she is good at planning.

Finally, my brother, he has wide forehead and square chin. In the book, they are intelligent and work hard. But he doesn't work hard. The book says they can be calm and quiet. I don't agree. Never! He isn't quiet at all. I think this type is not accurate in him.

It can't be decided one's characteristics by someone's face shape.
There are so many exceptions like me and around people.

My opinion

There are many factors in the cause that some people are smart.
Sure, 'right-handed/left-brained or left-handed/right-brained' can be a factor. But I think there are also other factors.

First, people who are calm and careful are usually smart.
As you know and see, calm and careful friends who are around you are smart and do good school performances.
Second, I think the heredity is also a factor.
I saw a report of research, that parents' IQs are high, then their children's, too.
Thrid, environment is the most important factor.
Education, self studying, and nutrition etc. are very important.
Actually, there are many evidences that make it true.

Hello~ My name is JungHyun Kim.
After the BigExam(?), I had a lot of free time and I was not busy. So, I spent bored times recently.
But from today, I am very appreciate this English Camp because I`ll be busy.
I have father, mother, one elder brother. My major is Food Engineering. I have much interest in food and Chemistry. But actually, I don`t know well what I`m going to be learned.
I live in Yeongdeungpogu, Seoul. I have lived here for 18years.

Oh, my third class is 'Employment skills.'
First, I didn`t know about that. 'Employment skills' is preparing for job hunting. So in my class, there are many seniors.
I was very embarrassed...

I want to go along with you guys, and teacher. And I also want to improve my English skills.
